Eating out at Body Fuel Cafe, Brighton
I was recently invited down to Body Fuel Cafe located on Church Road in Hove. They pride themselves on serving healthy, clean food which leaves you feeling great. I went with a friend of mine who was visiting from London.
We arrived with an incredibly warm welcome, the two girls who served us were beaming with huge smiles, which is always what you want when you go for lunch!
I love the style of the cafe, it is very relaxed and perfect if you want to grab a quick and healthy meal. They have a large variety of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options, which for me, was fantastic, it actually made it hard for me to choose!
I had to start with a smoothie, of course, and I struggled! to pick one, so many options I absolutely love smoothies and I usually go for fully green ones, full of veggies and super healthy. Today, I was feeling different and a little more adventurous, so I opted for the ‘not naughty, definitely nice’. Made from almond milk, banana, nut butter, vanilla, cinnamon, honey and raw cacao powder, this smoothie was insane!
Next was choosing lunch, and I love a salad bar so I was truly in my element. They have a great system going on…you choose a protein, anything from halloumi through to tuna or steak. You then choose a base, anything from healthy spinach leaves, or a healthy carbohydrate of quinoa, brown rice and more. I choose quinoa, it is gluten free and a great carb to have at lunch, plus i struggle to cook it at home for some reason so I love eating it out when I can. You then have a choice of 6 veggies/toppings, including, grated carrot, feta, red onion and beetroot. I went for cauliflower, edamame beans, sweetcorn, avocado, spring onion and semi sundried tomatoes. Last but not least, you choose your healthy dressing, I had lemon vinaigrette, other options include hummus and honey mustard.
My friend Alice, decided to go for chicken salad with slightly different toppings and a ‘go green’ smoothie, which was on my radar but I thought we best try two different ones! We had a fantastic lunch, I love discovering places around Brighton and Hove, especially ones which are serving lots of options for different diets like vegan, gluten free and vegetarian. It is also great for those who love to hit the gym and are super healthy, and sometimes want to grab a meal out. Fresh, healthy ingredients served in one generous bowl of goodness!
